Whistler North

After developments in Whistler crept up to the Village and established a real world class ski destination. It was only natural that the budding community would expand just north of Whistler Village and become Whistler North. The two things you’ll think of when Whistler North is mention is the Nicklaus North Golf Course and Green Lake. Green lake is one of the best around for fishing canoeing and other water sports while Nicklaus North is arguably one of the best golf courses in the world. Of the 150 some odd courses Jack Nicklaus has designed, he chose only to put his name on this one. One of the coolest parts of the area is the old ghost town Parkhurst and an old mill on the other side of Green Lake. Expeditions here will lead to many fabricated stories about long since dead inhabitants and really makes for incredible pictures too.

The real estate in Whistler North tends to look more like a family cabin than some of the other real estate in Whistler. They are usually surrounded by green space and have access to the lake, golf course, hiking and bikinig trails, world class cross country skiing trails and so much more. It seems that life moves at a slightly slower pace in Whistler North.

Just North of Whistler Village is one of Whistler’s oldest communities in White Gold. It is an eclectic mix of both people and properties and has single family homes, pensions and bed and breakfasts all on the streets with the best names in Whistler. Lost lake is also in the area and you’ll probably never get tired of hiking, walking, biking and skiing around its serene shores. abandoned hut in parkhurstThe area is only a hop, skip and a jump away from both Whistler Village and the incredible Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course. Seriously, we have a lot of nice golf courses. Fitzsimmons Walk is the most recent development in the area and the 41 attached luxury chalets are incredible pieces of real estate that overlook Fitzsimmons Creek.

Spruce Grove is one of the best places in Whistler to raise a family. It has baseball fields and is home to the community greenhouse project. Spruce Grove is within walking distance of the Village and features homes for anybody looking in Whistler. There are single family homes, townhouses, employee housing and even some of the most impressive luxury properties in Whistler.

Nicklaus North isn’t just the golf course. It is, in fact, a small community that resides beside it made up of single family homes, townhomes and lots that will potentially hold Whistler’s newest community members. These homes, along with the ones in Cypress Place have incredible views of the mountains, lake and often the golf course as well.

Even Further North than Nicklaus North and Cypress Place is the always desirable Alpine Meadows. You can travel through Whistler’s history by visiting the real estate in this area. It has everything from traditional ski lodges to modern townhomes and luxury chalets. It is also home to Whistler Secondary School and the Meadow Park Sports Centre making it a great place for families. alpine meadowsIt is a five minute drive from the village, but here you really get the feeling that you’ve escaped it all as you take in the incredible views of the surrounding Armchair, Rainbow, Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.

Whistler is continuing to expand North still with the residential subdivision of Rainbow. They too enjoy beautiful views, but this time they are of Green Lake, Whistler, Blackcomb and Wedge Mountain. Because the develoopment is so new, the only homes available here are duplexes and single family homes.

Emerald Estates is another beautiful area of Whistler North and is named so because of the colour of Green Lake of which it has views. The Emerald Estates lie in the shadows of Armchair and Rainbow mountains creating a beautiful backdrop. Not all the properties have waterfront property, but everybody can enjoy the tennis courts, hiking, biking and showshoeing trails, and the children’s playground (so long as you’re a child).

Even further North still is the current hot spot for those of you who still want a nice chunk of land to build your dream ski resort home upon. Wedge Woods is surrounded by beautiful and protected forests so that you’ll never lose the outdoors feeling you get living here. There is the beautiful Green River, world famous trails and, as per usual, world class cross country skiing paths. Wedge Woods gives you the best of both worlds with a wilderness retreat still so close to the amenities of Whistler Village.
